About Sim

I’m Sim Shamu, founder of PBS ABA UK.

I help parents understand challenging behaviour more clearly using a behaviour-first approach grounded in behaviour analysis and positive behaviour support.

My aim is to help families move from confusion and overload towards clearer understanding, more focused support, and more practical next steps.

My background

I have over 10 years of experience helping and supporting people who display challenging behaviour, with experience spanning direct support, leadership, and behaviour-focused practice.

My qualifications include:

My work is informed by behaviour analysis and positive behaviour support, but when I work with parents I use clear, practical language rather than jargon-heavy explanations.

Why I built this approach

When behaviour is affecting family life, parents are often given advice that is too general, too vague, or too disconnected from the actual pattern they are living with day to day.

I built the Behaviour Pattern Mapping System™ to offer a more structured alternative.

The aim is to help parents focus on one main behaviour first, understand the pattern more clearly, and identify the most relevant next steps based on what is actually happening in that child’s daily life.

How I work

  • behaviour-first
  • structured
  • practical
  • collaborative
  • non-blaming
  • selective about fit

I do not believe that every family needs the same advice.

I also do not believe that more information is always the answer.

What often helps most is clearer understanding, better prioritisation, and support that fits the actual pattern rather than the label attached to it.

Professional standards

I am a UK-SBA member and committed to the UK-SBA Code of Ethical and Professional Conduct.

That commitment matters because families need support that is ethical, respectful, transparent, and grounded in professional responsibility.

This includes being honest about scope, honest about fit, and careful not to promise more than can responsibly be offered.
