Behaviour Clarity Session Information

Please read this information before submitting the suitability form.

The Free 25-Minute Behaviour Clarity Session is a brief, remote professional consultation. It helps organise one repeated behaviour within one important home routine and identify the most appropriate next step.

There is no fee for the session, and you will not be required to make a purchase decision during the call.

What the session is designed to do

During the session, we will focus on:

  • one repeated behaviour that can be described in observable terms;
  • one important home routine or situation;
  • one recent occasion that was difficult;
  • one similar occasion that went better or differently;
  • information that may be relevant;
  • important information that remains unknown;
  • the most appropriate next route based on what is currently available.

You will receive a concise Behaviour Clarity Note after the session. I aim to send this within one working day, subject to any urgent or safeguarding action taking priority.

The note will record what was reported, what may be worth investigating and what cannot yet responsibly be concluded.

What you need to prepare

You do not need to:

  • complete a tracker;
  • write a detailed history;
  • use technical terminology;
  • remember every incident;
  • arrive with a perfect explanation.

It may help to think of one recent example that represents the difficulty reasonably well. We will organise the important information together during the conversation.

What the session does not provide

The session is not:

  • an emergency, crisis or safeguarding service;
  • a diagnosis;
  • a Functional Behaviour Assessment;
  • a confirmed explanation or behavioural function;
  • a personalised behaviour support plan;
  • treatment or crisis coaching;
  • a guarantee that BPMS will be suitable;
  • a guarantee that any behaviour will change.

A 25-minute conversation can help identify useful questions and next steps. It cannot provide enough evidence to make every assessment or intervention decision responsibly.

Possible recommendations

An honest recommendation may be:

  1. No paid behaviour service is needed at present.
  2. Medical, safeguarding, urgent or another professional support should take priority.
  3. The focused One-Routine Behaviour Support Sprint appears potentially suitable.
  4. A more comprehensive or intensive assessment route may be needed.
  5. One specific piece of information is needed before the appropriate route can be decided.

The session may conclude that no paid BPMS service is needed, or that another professional route should come first. You will not be asked to make a purchase decision during the call.

Safety, health and safeguarding

The Behaviour Clarity Session is not suitable for an immediate emergency.

Where there is an immediate risk of serious harm, an urgent medical concern or an active safeguarding concern, seek appropriate urgent local help rather than waiting for this service.

The suitability form asks brief questions about:

  • immediate risk of serious injury;
  • urgent safeguarding or crisis concerns;
  • sudden change, possible pain or illness.

If an answer indicates that one of these issues may need to take priority, the standard booking link will not be sent automatically. Your response will be reviewed so that the appropriate next route can be considered.

I will not diagnose a medical condition or replace emergency, safeguarding or local healthcare services.

Confidentiality and its limits

Information shared for the session will be treated confidentially and accessed only for legitimate service, safety, record-keeping and governance purposes.

Confidentiality is not absolute. Where information indicates a serious safety or safeguarding concern, it may be necessary to take appropriate action or share the minimum necessary information in accordance with professional and legal responsibilities.

Where practical and safe, I will explain any action or information-sharing decision to you.

Records and your Behaviour Clarity Note

PBS ABA UK will retain a professional record of:

  • the information needed to understand and deliver the consultation;
  • the main points discussed;

  • what remains unknown;
  • the recommended route;
  • the Behaviour Clarity Note and relevant communication.

The screening form, booking and professional communication are handled through the controlled PBS ABA UK Google Workspace environment.

Detailed information about why information is collected, how it is used, storage, retention, sharing and your rights will be provided in the Privacy Notice.

Recording, transcription and AI tools

The session is not recorded or automatically transcribed by default.

Automated AI notetakers are not used during the consultation. Please do not record the session yourself unless this has been discussed and expressly agreed in advance.

Who the session is for

The session is normally held with the parent or caregiver who completed the suitability form.

Another adult should only attend where their involvement, confidentiality and role have been agreed beforehand. Please do not bring an unannounced professional, family member or other participant into the call.

The concern relates to your child, and their dignity, safety, communication, preferences, participation and quality of life remain central to the discussion.

Remote-session requirements

The session takes place through Google Meet.

Please join from somewhere that is reasonably private and where you can talk safely. You are not expected to supervise an unsafe incident or deliberately create difficult behaviour for the purpose of the call.

If the conversation is interrupted, the connection fails or it is no longer safe or appropriate to continue, the session may be paused, rearranged or brought to an end.

Cancelling or rescheduling

Your confirmation email will include the option to cancel or choose another available time.

There is no obligation to rebook if you can no longer attend. Please cancel where possible so the time can become available to another family.

A missed appointment does not create an obligation to purchase or continue with PBS ABA UK.

Reasonable adjustments

Please contact PBS ABA UK if you require a reasonable adjustment to access the form or remote consultation.

You only need to share the minimum information necessary to explain the adjustment you require.
